EDUCATIONAL PRINCIPLES: RIGOUR, BALANCE AND BILINGUALISM

The SEK Educational System is based on knowledge acquisition through the exploration of concepts, research and the development of competencies that encourage critical thought and creativity.

SEK pupils learn all those strategies that will permit them, throughout their lives, to be autonomous, self-assured and able to learn independently.

The demands of our system and a rigorous evaluation model focussed on improvement allow us to guarantee the highest possible academic attainment from our pupils.

In respect of the all-round development of our pupils, we offer a balanced education that especially values sports, the development of technological competencies and those related to social and emotional intelligence, community service and artistic expression.

SEK-Alboran offers bilingualism in English and Spanish from the earliest stages, prepares pupils for the most widely recognised external examinations and provides a way of undertaking overseas linguistic exchanges in order to also learn a third language, French or German

The SEK Group a pioneer (1977) in the implementation in Spain of the International Baccalaureate Organisation® (IB) programmes, integrates their curricular framework in order to enhance the national curriculum in the form of a continuum from the ages of 3 up to 18 years of age.

 El IB® Diploma enjoys great academic prestige and provides a means of access to the most prestigious universities in the world.

ENHANCING THE CURRICULUM THE SEK SYSTEM

The SEK Educational Model puts special importance on the development of emotional intelligence abilities and integrates them into its curriculum. We work on the basis of the PYP curricular framework in the “Creative resolution of conflicts”. Our teachers have been trained by the education expert Linda Lantieri (CASEL-Daniel Goleman Institute).

We personalise learning using the Intelligent Classroom methodology, defined as:

“A learning community, whose main objective is to develop the intelligence and values of each one of its pupils, who plan, implement and regulate their own activities, under the direction of their teachers who use a variety of teaching methods, and suggest real tasks, evaluated by the pupils and their teachers, in a multi-purpose, technologically equipped space”.

Pupils take responsibility for their own learning.

 

INDIVIDUAL COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES

 

SEK-Alboran offers a wide range of complementary activities whose aim is to develop the individual personality, qualities and interests of each and every pupil. It provides a variety of sports schools, public-speaking and debating workshops and exchanges with international schools.

Our pupils take part in various model United Nations in a variety of countries and we have our own, SEKMUN. This is an educational-cultural project authorised by the UNO, which is a simulation of the General Assembly and other multilateral agencies.
